DESCRIPTION:Following on from the success of the previous Open House events
 \, the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) in Teddington will once again be
  opening its doors to the public. On Tuesday 17 May 2016 from 2 pm until 8
  pm\, NPL will have a variety of laboratories open\, as well as a programm
 e of talks and lots of interactive outreach activities on offer.\n\nWhethe
 r you have visited NPL numerous times\, or not at all\, this is a great op
 portunity to find out what goes on inside our laboratories. The breadth an
 d variety of activities we are involved with will astound you.\n\nNPL is t
 he UK’s National Measurement Institute. For more than a century\, NPL ha
 s developed and maintained the nation's primary measurement standards\, ac
 ting as the UK’s home for the kilogram\, metre and second.\n\nNPL's meas
 urements help to save lives\, protect the environment\, enable citizens to
  feel safe and secure\, as well as supporting international trade and inno
 vation. At our event you’ll have the chance to learn exactly how our cut
 ting-edge research impacts the real-world.\nCome along\, meet our scientis
