Ockham's razorOckham’s Razor create original and ground breaking physical theatre from the stories and relationships inherent in circus.

For their return to the Rose they present a show set in the round, with five performers enclosed within the circle of the stage. They take simple metal poles and transform them into a rich landscape of images. Poles are balanced on fingertips, hung from the roof, lashed, climbed, swung from and walked along. They become forests, cross roads and pendulums.

The audience are drawn in, close to the action as the toppling poles veer from catastrophe to mastery and lines are cast out beyond the circle of the stage.

Within the arena of the stage the performers balance, climb, spin and cling to this teetering, changing world, supporting each other as they wrestle and play with the moment when things begin to shift. They must decide whether to rail against the chaos – struggling to exert order on a disordered world, or ride it out, allowing life to tilt towards the tipping point.

Ockham’s Razor use original design to re-imagine circus equipment using William of Ockham’s principle, that between two theories, the simpler is preferable.
