SUMMARY:THE DEAD PARROT SOCIETY presents their stand-up comedy @ THE ANGLER
 S.
DESCRIPTION:We're a ridiculously friendly local comedy club showcasing the
best of hand-picked new talent from the circuit as well as welcoming famou
s faces from the telly who drop in regularly to try new stuff. We're on on
ce a month on a Friday (more or less) and always have at least half a doze
n acts on the bill. Previous acts: Milton Jones\, Lucy Porter\, Hal Crutte
 nden\, Josh Widdicombe\, Sara Pascoe\, Luisa Omielan\, \, Rachel Parris\,
Sy Thomas &amp\; Stephen Bailey plus our favourite new acts Mr Susie\, Dav
id Mills\, Laurence Owen\, Lindsay Sharman &amp\; Tom Ward. We love a bit
of musical comedy and pride ourselves on our mixed bills (we strive for a
50-50 male-female ratio and a mix of stand-up and more alternative sets).
Our resident MC is BBC Radio 4's Viv Groskop (Saturday Live\, Loose Ends):
"Very funny" -- Omid Djalili.\nLet the Dead Parrot surprise and delight y
ou!\n\nWe have a wicked night of stand-up comedy for you on Friday 3rd of
 June starring.\n\nHJALMAR TJAN\nHis name is not a joke.\nIn a style that b
lends a laconic wit with observations about a life spent mixed-up\, mixed-
race and possessed of a name not even some of his own family can pronounce
\, the Tjan is mighty!\n\n"A mystery wrapped in a cloud of what appears to
  be jazz\, whiskey\, and funny. I’m there!"- Sadaf Fahim.\n\nPAUL F TAYL
OR\nThe award winning Paul F Taylor is a one of the UK’s most original a
nd distinctive stand-up performers. His unique brand of humour fuses quirk
y offbeat one liners with surreal and observational flights of fancy to fa
ntastical effect.\n\n"Beautifully silly and odd gags\, told with frenetic
energy that’s sometimes hard to keep up with... His approach is reminisc
ent of Harry Hill or Steve Martin in his funny years\, although Taylor exc
eeds them both in frenzied delivery... An act where there can either be tw
elve jokes in a minute\, or where one joke can go on to incomprehensible l
ength." ShortCom ★★★★\n\n“Paul F Taylor is going to rear a cult
following of those with refined senses of humour &amp\; you should join us
.” - THREE WEEKS\n\n"Talks about everyday observations but with a wonder
ful edge of surrealism" - CHORTLE\n\n"Wickedly funny and astute observatio
nal comedy" - GQ MAGAZINE.\n\nCHRISTIAN TALBOT\nChristian Talbot is a stan
d-up comedian from Dublin\, based in Northern Ireland. In 2012 he was one
of the finalists in Amnesty International’s Secret Policeman’s Ball
“World’s Shortest Gig” ( He lost out to a magician called Piff in an
ill-fitting green dragon suit).\n\n“An absolutely engaging performer. T
he women next to me nearly dislocated something\, so much was she laughing
. Can’t say fairer than that.” – THE SCOTSMAN\n\n“Talbot may call
himself 'Shite at Being Irish' but when it comes to putting together a goo
 d show\, well\, he’s great at that.” – ★★★★ BROADWAY BABY.\n
 \nSARAH KEYWORTH\nOriginally from Nottingham\, Sarah Keyworth is fast-beco
ming a regular on the\nLondon circuit and has recently supported Stewart F
rancis on tour.\nHer material is a mix of honest anecdotal storytelling ab
out her Midlands upbringing\, made\nsurreal with the occasional addition o
f a silly observation. She delivers sharp\nlines with a cheeky smile and m
oments of sudden deadpan that leave the\naudience wanting more.\n“Charmi
ng” – THE INDEPENDENT\n\n“Pulling in the biggest laughs” – THREE
  WEEKS\n\n“Excellently deadpan” – HUFFINGTON POST\n\nSAM DEARDS\nSam
Deards is from West London and has been doing comedy since October 2012.\
n\n“Bloody funny and very charming - highly recommended”- MARK DOLAN C
4 BALLS OF STEEL.\n\nSTELLA GRAHAM\nStella Graham is a naturally funny sta
nd-up comedian and writer\, with great gags and killer banter. Charming\,
and unladylike\, all punchlines connect with a resounding thud.\n\n"If you
're a TV executive\, drop what you're doing and go see her now" - THE SKIN
NY\n\n"Fun and original... everything a good comedian should be: self-assu
 red\, likeable and\, crucially\, funny" - BROADWAY BABY.\n\nSAM MITCHELL\n
