Hailing from the East Midlands, Joe Olney is a guitarist and composer who moved to London in 2000 and has been living in Twickenham for the past 9 years.

He started teaching himself the guitar 15 years ago, and since then, has studied music technology and music theory at a high level.

When a couple of friends asked him if he could show them how to play songs on the guitar and how to make music on a computer, he started teaching guitar and music production; and has been doing so in his home-studio for 4 years.

When he’s not teaching, he plays guitar in musicals, and composes music for stage and TV.

Joe has appeared on stage several times at Hampton Hill playhouse, in “Return to the Forbidden Planet” and an award-winning run of “Spring Awakening”. He will playing guitar in the pantomime “Aladdin” at Sunbury, in January and the musical “Grease” at the Theatre Royal Lincoln, in April.

Strange to relate, he also appeared in an episode of TV’s “Misfits”! (Not playing guitar…)
