Vincent Gerbeau opened the Retro Bistrot as an independent business in the summer of 2008. Prior to that Vincent had been Maitre d’ as the famous Monsieur Max restaurant in Hampton Hill. Vincent’s background also includes working with celebrity chef Gary Rhodes at the Greenhouse restaurant in Mayfair.
Vincent’s vision for the Retro is to combine top class food with excellent service but to do so in an informal setting and at reasonable prices. Diners can enjoy a first-class dining experience but without having to don the posh frock – the Retro does casual as well as it does special occasion!
Vincent is married to Sue and they have two children and two cats. Bistrot means a small restaurant serving moderately priced food in a modest setting. Vincent & Sue are big on style and love the retro feel – hence Retro Bistrot. Vincent is known locally, and of course by his loyal customers, as a man of style; his range of colourful waistcoats are legendary and he’s even been featured in the Style section of The Sunday Times!
