Turner’s House Trust is an independent registered charity which relies on visitors admission, grants and donations to remain open at all.

In 1813 England’s great landscape painter J.M.W. Turner built a small villa, Sandycombe Lodge, on a large plot near the Thames at Twickenham. Here, the painter became an architect, guided by the hand of his friend John Soane.

The Friends of Turner’s House was set up in 2004 to support Professor Livermore (the last resident) in his aim to preserve the house for the nation, and now supports the aims of the Turner’s House Trust to restore and conserve Sandycombe Lodge.

The House

Sandycombe Lodge is J.M.W. Turner’s largest artwork, and thanks to the National Lottery Heritage Fund and generous supporters, it has been restored to its original beauty. The house has a fascinating history and an exciting future, come and visit and be part of its legacy.

Collection Highlight

Sandycombe Lodge was built by 1813 to the designs of England’s great landscape painter, J.M.W. Turner; working here as his own architect to create a quiet retreat for himself, away from the pressures of the London art world.

Wednesday to Sunday – 12pm – 4pm (Guided tours at 12:30pm, 1:30pm, and 2:30pm
– ONLY when a guide is available)

Admission Prices

If you are able to consent to Gift Aid and are a UK taxpayer, we would be grateful if
you would make a 10% donation on admission prices, as we can claim back 25% extra
on the whole price of your ticket from the government. Donations such as this help us
keep Turner’s House open for everyone.

From April 24th to October 26th 2025
Adult £12.00 without gift aid, £13.20 with gift aid
Young Adult (18 – 25 years old) £6.00 without gift aid, £6.60 with gift aid
Family (2 adults + 2 children) £25.00 without gift aid, £27.50 with gift aid (if the person
paying is a taxpayer).
Child (3-17 years old) £3.00, £3.30 with gift aid

Turner’s House prefers pre-booked visits in advance but walk-in visits are available.
Please check with the house first.

We kindly ask that no food or drink is brought into the house, this is to protect our interiors from any damage.
