High Street Update

Boho is the newest of three stores in this small independent chain that will now bring bohemian chic clothing, bags, accessories, jewellery, boots and shoes to the high street – mostly sourced from Italy (some France).

Only one of each size of the stylish clothes are available in store so there’s much less chance of bumping into someone else wearing the same piece!

Right from the moment it opened, Bottega delicatessen has been delighting locals who have a taste for fine Italian food and ingredients. Their focus is on sourcing items directly from smaller higher-quality producers and on artisan-produced products. Here you will find tasty Italian meats, cheeses, fresh pasta (available with paninis etc for take-away), sweets and chocolates as well as fine ingredients such as pasta, sauces, pickles, Sardinian Carasau bread (as used in Jamie Oliver’s restaurants) and various flavours of olive oils – soon to be a top-up service!

Locals that grew up in Italy who have visited Bottega have been surprised at the brands that they recognise from their childhood and struggle to find themselves in the UK. Feel free to sample some of the meats and cheeses on the counter before you buy – there are some melt-in-your-mouth hams, pure fat & seasoned sausages, duck and other meats, cheeses and olives available.

Their stock is being built-up slowly and being helped by feedback from customers so don’t be shy when tasting what’s on offer! Future plans once their kitchen is fully functional include wine tasting, pasta-making courses, meals such as lasagnes etc available to take home & re-heat and a made to order dinner party pick-up service.

Ellis’s has also recently opened and has been packed out with customers sampling the traditional home-cooked English food and special goods found within. This treasure-trove of yummy treats offers eat-in or take-away food such as chutneys, jams, snacks, speciality teas and much more. Goods are sourced from local and smaller suppliers so you will find lots of unusual items here.

Each day has a new pate, jam, soup, pie and more on the specials menu – all made in-house. Future plans for special events at Ellis’s include cupcake frosting, jam & chutney-making courses and book clubs (books about food of course!). Also don’t forget to try their Christmas hampers, breakfasts & brunches (8-12), freshly made sandwiches, baguettes and paninis.

Oakleys has been open for business for a little while now. This showroom offers a wide range of quality items for your home and is well worth a browse. In store you will find furniture such as beds, cupboards, drawers, dining-room tables & chairs, shelves, hatstands etc.

Also plenty to sit on them such as lamps, candelabra, frames & pictures, small sculptures and a big selection of mirrors. If you’re looking for something a little more festive then check out their current Christmas range of decorations, wreaths, santas and stockings!

Elsewhere an independent opticians is currently being fitted out where Novaglass double-glazing was previously. Fashion Nails has opened opposite Tesco and is currently offering new clients 20% off treatments.
