The Royal Oak is set for a return soon in place of Sammy’s – email new owner at peter.cova@virgin.net if you are interested in bar work opportunities here. After a re-decoration, the pub will hopefully be having a soft-opening by the middle of August and be fully open by early September.

The Waldegrave Arms is almost ready to open after the redevelopment into flats retaining the pub building – this should open on 17th August Friday 24th August. A grand opening will be taking place for the pub that will have rotating real ales and good quality affordable food and a private hireable function room.

After warning signs that included lack of drinks at the pumps, The Bloated Mallard closed recently and was handed back to the owners. It has though since re-opened and looks like new tenant may be testing out the viability of a relaunch.

It’s A Wrap has started a closing down sale – the landlords at Teddington Carpet Centre need to downsize their shop and are moving into this unit now that the lease has ended. It’s A Wrap, who have operated from here for 15 years are selling all stock, then will be looking again for similar sized units in the area so fingers crossed for it’s return.

The Loft have finished their shop refurbishment after their back-room fire last year and are now working to re-stock the shop to re-open soon. [Update 13/08/2012] Now open again.

A ‘pop-up’ fruit & veg stall has appeared on the corner of Broad Street and Church Road. Run by John Woods, the stall will providing fresh fruit and veg every day.

Plans have been submitted to turn DH Supplies on Church Road (bathroom installations) into a permanent Kumon centre – currently situated at Teddington Baptist Church.

The popular Mum2mum market now operates in Teddington – parents can either sell or buy new and used children’s goods: maternity clothes, 2nd hand baby equipment, clothes, prams etc at this children’s market (next event: 22nd September).

Moiduls has been getting rave reviews from diners and is now offering 3 for 2 on all tapas dishes for lunches during the week and also on Sundays 12:30-10:30pm. They are also opening early for breakfast, servin Illy coffee, cakes, homemade pastries, omelettes, fruit salads, poached eggs, pancakes.

The Kings Head currently have a special ‘rare breed’ grill menu to celebrate the Olympics with specially aged beef available in a variety of cuts and sizes with accompanying discounted wine or guest ale. If you can’t bear to spend any time away from watching the Olympics at home, note that both Bar Estilo and Red Peppers have their menu available for take-away too (collection only).

  • The Waldegrave Arms photo is incorrect. It actually has ridiculous floor to ceiling windows in flats that obviously don’t have enough walk space – resulting in “nice” views of rear of fridge, backs of cupboards…!. What a cheaply finished building & a real shame for Waldegrave Road residents as it drags down the look of this lovely road.

  • Agree with tcsjules, the Waldegrave looks appalling. After all the effort to preserve the frontage, the top section looks completely out of character – a cheap block of flats.
