Blooming marvellous
A patch of greenery opposite Teddington Memorial Hospital, where Hampton and Stanley Roads meet, has been transformed with the addition of two beautiful flower beds. The Teddington Society, the Council’s Parks’ department and Strawberry Hill House together with Squires Garden Centre, Twickenham have made this a reality; watch the video below.
Graham Golledge planned the bed on the Hampton Road side for the Teddington Society and Kate Robinson, Gardener In Charge at Strawberry Hill House planned the one on Stanley Road which features plants that Horace Walpole would know. Volunteers planted them up on Thursday 29th September with lots of help from Continental Landscapes, the Council’s contractor who maintain the site. Over the years we’ve had help from the Mayor of London’s Office under Boris Johnson too. The plants were purchased from Squires with money raised at Teddington In Flower.
If you’re walking past or stuck waiting in traffic, take at the glance and take a look to see how the flowers are developing! Sadly one of the original planners from the Teddington Society has died so this project is lovingly dedicated to the late Carolan Shaw.
Thanks to Alan Benns for the video!
