Crime prevention tour comes to Teddington this Friday

Richmond Police have been touring the area with their crime prevention bus which will come to an end on Friday in Teddington town center.

Having visited Twickenham already, the bus will be available in Richmond today. Kew tomorrow before being stationed in Teddington between 10am and 1pm on Friday.

The local police will be providing advice on issues such as burglary, scams, motor vehicle crime and general crime prevention.

Cllr Stephen Speak, Richmond Council Cabinet Member for Community Safety, said:

“This bus tour is important – particularly in these last few weeks up to Christmas, when people are more relaxed about their belongings. And, eagle-eyed criminals are waiting in the wings for that unlocked shed door, iPad on the back seat or handbag slightly open.

“Knowledge is power – we all need to be alert to the steps we can take to reduce the chances of becoming a victim of crime.

“Not only will the police be on hand to provide hints and tips, but free bike marking and mobile phone registering should be a must for anyone buying those expensive gifts this Christmas.”

The details of the remainder of the tour are:

·         Richmond Town Centre – Wednesday 14th from 2-5pm

·         Sainsbury’s Manor Circus – Thursday 15th from 10am-1pm

·         Kew Retail Park – Thursday 15th from 2-5pm

·         Teddington Town Centre – Friday 16th from 10am-1pm
