Bushy Park Christmas Day Parkrun sets new record

The annual Bushy Park run proved again to be a success as a record number of people turned up in fancy dress to complete the festive run.

1,262 people dressed up in Christmas outfits to complete the run which is among the top amount of people to run a 5km at any time.

Andy Maud was this year’s victorious winner as he flew through the run with an impressive time of 15:07.

The runners were met with mulled wine and mince pies by an impressive 43 volunteers who turned out in the cold weather,

The run is completely free to anyone who wanted to earn their Christmas dinner with some exercise beforehand as the plenty of volunteers ensured that the event ran smoothly.

The tradition began with just 13 people running through Bushy Park every Saturday in 2004, and has since grown into several events around the year of various distances.

Runners from around the world have flocked to Bushy Park with Sir Mo Farah the most well-known to train around Teddington.
