Charges frozen for Council Commercial Waste collections
Businesses in the borough can still access the Council’s commercial waste and recycling service – at the same prices as 2015.
All commercial premises in the borough have a legal duty to ensure that their waste is collected and disposed of by an authorised waste carrier – businesses that put out their rubbish or recycling for residential collection, or use on-street recycling centres, could be liable for significant fines.
The Council’s Commercial Waste Team provides a comprehensive service, by assisting businesses to be environmentally responsible for their waste. Benefits include competitive prices, scheduled collections, the ability to recycle a wide range of materials and the provision of a wide variety of containers. In addition, they can provide businesses with tailored advice on how they can reduce, re-use and recycle their waste which not only assists with the Council’s objectives to increase recycling but means the company is also making a contribution to a better environment as a whole.
It has now been agreed that the charges for 2017/18 will be held at the same prices as 2015, enabling more businesses to benefit from this service.
Cllr Pamela Fleming, Richmond Council Cabinet Member for the Environment, said:
“All businesses in the borough must ensure that their commercial waste is collected properly. Richmond Council can offer the security of providing a responsible and reliable service.
“In addition, our officers can provide waste audits, which could in fact end up saving businesses money. All of our contracts are tailor-made, to suit each business.
“I hope that more businesses will take up the opportunity to benefit, whilst these charges are frozen.”
