Teddington woman voted best apprentice at Master Builders Awards London 2017

Teddington-based apprentice, Dorota Jarzabska, has been named the London Region Apprentice 2017 of the Year in the Federation of Master Builders’ (FMB) Master Builder Awards.
As part of the Master Builder Awards the FMB carries out a nationwide search to find the building industry’s best apprentices.
Dorota, who works at Byrne Bros in Teddington, was chosen in a fiercely-contested competition and recognised for her high standard of workmanship and her professional attitude towards her work and studies.
Dorota’s passion for building enabled her to defy outdated gender stereotypes and earn respect and recognition as a formworker for construction firm Byrne Bros. One and a half years into a formwork apprenticeship, Dorota has not only juggled family life with studying and site work, but has also found time to attend career talks to encourage other young people to follow the apprenticeship route.
The best in London will now go up against other winning apprentices from around the UK with a chance to claim the coveted national Apprentice 2017 crown, as well as a cash prize of £500 from the FMB.

The national winner will be celebrated at a ceremony held at the Intercontinental Park Lane Hotel on 15th September 2017 and awarded their accolade by TV presenter and building enthusiast Nick Knowles.
Barry Mortimer, FMB London Director, said: “This is a great opportunity for the FMB to reward the talented apprentices on which the UK construction industry will rely in the years to come.

“This award is a testament to their hard work and enthusiasm in their chosen occupation. Dorota is a shining example of how commitment, dedication and determination can achieve results and we wish her luck in the national final.”
