Controversial planning application submitted for building on Udney Park

Quantum, the current owners of Udney Park Playing Fields, has now submitted its planning application to LBRUT to build.

Friends of Udney Park Playing Fields strongly oppose the plans as they believe the 3 cricket pitches, and two rugby/football pitches should be protected.

The playing fields which has hosted cricket matches for over 99 years also hold a historic World War I Memorial Pavilion.

Councillor Stephen Knight said: “Don’t believe for one second that Quantum partnering with local organisations is anything other than camouflage for a grubby land deal.”

The organisation, FUPPF, have now formed a charity as they step up opposition to the Quantum proposal & engage professional Planning Consultants to oppose the application and take the objections to the highest levels in order for the fields to remain as provisions for sport.

They estimate that £15,000–£20,000 will be needed to engage the professional Planning Consultant firstly for the planning application and later when the inevitable Quantum/TCSGCIC appeal against refusal is made.
