Kingston Lane & Udney Park Road Street Party

On Sunday 11th August, we held a fantastic street party in the “lane” between Kingston Lane & Udney Park Road.

It was a great success with around 50 adults + 30 children from the two roads attending. We had lots of generous donations from local businesses: Ruba, Piazza Firenze & Cook all donated food for guests, there was wine tasting from Doran Vineyards, and we had raffle prizes donated from Cote, King’s Head, Gardenia, Sainsbury’s, One One Four, M&S, Nova Fortuny & Heirloom; through which we raised £300 for the Down’s Syndrome Association.

Lovin’ Thy Neighbours is pretty easy when they’re a bunch like this! Since April, a small group of us have been organising a street party for our road and the parallel neighbouring road.

This was a great Party Day! I think it’s fair to say it surpassed all our expectations… in terms of turnout (around 50 adults + 30 kids), donations (so many generous contributions from local shops and restaurants, for food for the party and raffle prizes!), dishes prepared by the neighbours (including giant monogrammed pork pie!), drinks donated (and home brewed!), money raised for Down’s Syndrome Association, weather (the forecast rain did not materialise ?) and duration of party (the ‘after-party’ went on until long after the sun had set and kids were safely tucked up in bed!)

It was an afternoon/evening of fabulous food and drinks… featuring plenty of games for kids and big kids alike, bracelet making, craft table, kids’ tattoos, cupcake decorating, wine tasting, BBQ-ing, raffle drawing, microphone hogging, cinema screening, catching up with old friends and making new ones. Adults and kids all seemed to have a ball.

It’s a great feeling being lucky to live in such a warm and friendly community… it was a real team effort in organising and making the event go so smoothly and enjoyably.

There’s since been a call to make this an annual event… so here’s to next year’s bash!

A huge thank you to everyone involved and our amazing donators!
