HELP SUPPORT NEW GARDEN SANCTUARY AT TEDDINGTON MEMORIAL HOSPITAL
The Friends of Teddington Memorial Hospital has launched a campaign to raise £20.000 to provide a wellbeing garden for patients, visiting families and staff.
The improved garden will provide a much-needed peaceful and serene haven which it is hoped will primarily benefit patients but also the staff, who can often suffer from stress and anxiety.
It is hope that the work can start tomorrow (tuesday) after bad weather caused a delay. Anyone with gardening skills is also welcome to volunteer.
The hospital says that the benefits of the garden are:
Patient recovery:
- Hospital admission can be a highly stressful experience.
- Outdoor space can reduce this anxiety.
- An attractive garden helps accelerate patient recovery.
Visitor welfare:
• A loved one’s illness can cause anxiety.
• Visitors often need a break from these worries.
• A delightful garden helps alleviate stress.
Staff Wellbeing:
• Staff experience anxiety, stress and depression.
• This results in 348,028 working days per month being lost.
• A vibrant garden helps promote staff wellbeing.
