FORMER HOSTAGE JOHN MCCARTHY IS SPORTEDD SPECIAL GUEST
The former Beirut hostage, author and broadcaster John McCarthy CBE will be the special guest at the next SporTedd fund-raising dinner, it was announced today.
John, who lives locally in Teddington, has agreed to make a rare appearance when he will talk about his ordeal when he was kidnapped and kept prisoner for five years as well as his other work and his life since his release on 8 August 1991.
SporTedd (www.sportedd.co.uk) the local community group set up to support local sport-themed projects has traditionally hosted a galaxy of sports stars including Gary Lineker, Sue Barker, Damon Hill, Tim Henman, Lawrence Dallaglio and Jason Leonard but is planning future events with non-sport guests.
