LEGENDARY BAND SQUEEZE PLAY TWICKENHAM’S EXCHANGE VENUE
The Twickenham Exchange has announced that Squeeze will be in concert on 15 and 17 March 2024.
The British music legends will play two intimate dates at the venue ahead of their 50th anniversary tour and performance for the Teenage Cancer Trust, at the Royal Albert Hall, on 18 and 20 March.
The Exchange gig marks the start of a bumper year for the band, with an extensive UK tour to celebrate their career spanning half a century.
Iconic songwriter team, Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook join with bassist Owen Biddle, guitarist Melvin Duffy, percussionist Steve Smith, keyboardist Stephen Large and drummer Simon Hanson to perform a list of hits, and rare gems, from their back catalogue of 70s and 80s classics.
Becky Shaw, the Exchange Programme & Partnership Manager, commented: “Twickenham is based in the heart of British R&B with its rich musical legacy at Eel Pie Island, so what better place
for Squeeze to kick off their anniversary year here at the Exchange.
“We’re thrilled they’re playing our venue; their two-night residency is going to be a real treat for our audiences, and die-hard fans, to see them up-close in an intimate gig before they head off on their sell-out tour.”
Squeeze came to prominence in the late 1970s, and continued recording in the 1980s, 1990s and 2010s.
They have left an indelible impression on the UK music scene with iconic songs, ‘Up the Junction, ‘Cool for Cats’, ‘Another Nail in My Heart’, ‘Hourglass’ and ‘Tempted’, written by
Difford and Tilbrook, who have remained at the heart of Squeeze since the beginning.
Demand for their UK tour has been unprecedented which has led to eight extra dates being added to the schedule, proving that the appetite for the band remains vital and vibrant going into its
fiftieth year.
