CYCLISTS RESCUED BY RNLI NEAR TEDDINGTON
The RNLI in Teddington today warned tow path cyclists to be extra careful during a period of high tides along the River Thames.
Their warning follows a recent ‘shout’ when a volunteer crew was called out during a very high tide when two cyclists found themselves stranded in waist-high water on the tow path near Petersham.
A spokesperson said: “They did the right thing & dialled 999. Please remember this part of the river Thames is tidal and can be unpredictable and rise very suddenly and quickly.”
The fire brigade from Kingston also assisted with the rescue after the cyclists were on dry land.
