BUSHY PARK CRICKET PAVILION REDUCED TO RUBBLE (Photo Special)

PHOTO SPECIAL ON DEMOLITON OF HAMPTON WICK ROYAL CRICKET CLUB

Piles of rubble, twisted metal and charred wood marks the remains of Hampton Wick Royal Cricket Club in Bushy Park.

The site is still cordoned off today by steel fences with warning signs but a single crane began removing the wreckage of the famous pavilion to eventually flatten the base and prepare for a long-term rebuild.

Ironically, at the same time grounds staff began preparing the cricket pitch just yards away in readiness for the new season.

It is hoped that a combination of portacabin type structures and a semi-permanent marquee will be in place as soon as possible.
