BIG TEDDINGTON TURN OUT FOR RNLI OPEN DAY
PHOTO SPECIAL ON RNLI OPEN DAY IN TEDDINGTON
Over 500 people turned out locally to meet the Teddington-based RNLI volunteer crew and get a close look at the lifeboats for their big open day on Saturday.
They also had a chance to see a historic wooden lifeboat and watch a thrilling demonstration of the D-class lifeboat rescuing a crew member from the River Thames.
A flotilla of local boats arrived at the RNLI slipwaY led by a Picket Boat, a skerry rowing boat and a Thames Watermans’ Cutter.
London Fire Brigade, Metropolitan Police and The Wharf restaurant were there to support the RNLI team us as well as a version of the sea shanty Wellerman from local singers.
There were stalls from RNLI, The Skiff Club, Twickenham Yacht Club, Rotary, Teddington Society and around £2000 was raised in donations.
