DECKED OUT IN TEDDINGTON FOR D-DAY
The Royal British Legion building in High Street was decked out in the flags of the Allied Forces to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day, which is tomorrow (june 6)
The Union Jack and the flags of Canada and the US were mounted on poles outside the building and bunting in the colours of the individual nation’s flags bedecked the front of the building.
The Friends of Bushy and Home Park will hosting an exhibition about the vital role played by Bushy Park in the Second World War and in particular the planning of D-Day in Bushy Park with General Eisenhower on Saturday and Sunday.
There will also be guided walks with experts David and Claire Iveson who will show visitors the sites of the huts in the park as well as important memorials. The exhibition will be near the Eisenhower Memorial near the SHAEF Gate, which marks the history of the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force
