BUILDERS ARMS IS SAVED
The popular community pub in Teddington, The Builders Arms, has finally been sold, Teddington Town can exclusively reveal.
The pub in Field Lane has been purchased by a local businessman for the asking price of £800.000.
Pub specialist estate agent Fleurets had been marketing the pub since April 2023. It was originally on sale for £1 million but attracted no interest.
Today, the website for the estate agents shows the pub is SOLD STC – meaning it is sold subject to contract.
It’s understood the pub – famous for its Sunday roast lunches – has major roof repairs to be completed as well as significant internal refurbishing at a considerable cost but it is hoped that the pub can reopen in time for Xmas.
The pub, which dates back to 1875, is at the geographical heart of Teddington and has a strong group of loyal regulars as well as being close to the train station and the High Street.
As the pub remained unsold for such a long time it was feared that it may be lost altogether and turned into residential accommodation.
At one stage a group of regular and local drinkers seriously considered forming a consortium to try to buy and run the pub themselves.
The pub, in the heart of Teddington, dates back to 1875, and also offers three bedroomed accommodation as well as a rear garden.
One regular told Teddington Town: “This is great news. We had almost given up hope. The Builders is the only proper pub in Teddington.”
