**Community cafe at the YMC Hawker Centre**

*The centre runs holiday schemes for kids*

The popular YMCA Hawker Centre on the riverside remained closed today after travellers who were forced to move from Ham Common moved into the community facility.

The centre provides children’s soft play and a community cafe as well as tennis facilities and adult and holiday kids’ classes.

Sources said today that a massive clearing up operation was underway after the mess left behind by the travellers.

A statement on the website said: “We are sorry to announce that the YMCA Hawker Centre is closed due to unforeseen circumstances.

“We are working with the police and courts to resolve the situation with travellers on site. Please note that the centre will remain closed until further notice.

“We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your continued support and understanding.

“Further updates will follow as the situation progresses.”
