One of Teddington’s busiest roads and key routes towards Strawberry Vale and Twickenham is closed from today August 27th  (tuesday) until September 10th.

The closure of Waldegrave Road came into force at 9.30am this morning causing significant diversions for the number 33 and N33 bus routes which travel along the road and include bus stops outside Teddington Library, Strawberry Hill and St Mary’s University.

According to Richmond Council in a statement today: “The closure is to allow for the construction of a flood alleviation scheme within the intersection.

“Regarding the road closure, the road will be closed from the junction with Tower Road to the pedestrian refuge in Waldegrave Road.

“Pedestrian access will be provided at all times. Vehicle access for residents will also be maintained and managed throughout the closure. ”

The diverted buses will use Twickenham Road and Teddington High Street as an alternative.

According to local travel advice: “From 09:30 Tuesday 27 August to 17:30 Tuesday 10 September, routes 33 and N33 are on diversion between Cross Deep and Broad Street/Teddington in both directions via Strawberry Vale, Twickenham Road, Manor Road and Teddington High Street due to local borough works.

“Buses are missing the stops Strawberry Vale, St Marys University, Southfield Gardens, Shacklegate Lane, Teddington Park Road and Teddington Library.”
