ENGLAND’S RED ROSES RUN OUT AT THE LENSBURY
England Women continued their preparations for two big September internationals at The Lensbury this week.
John Mitchell’s Red Roses 40-strong squad concluded their five-week pre-season block at the Teddington base ahead of two exciting matches against world class opposition.
Northern hemisphere rivals France will travel to Gloucester’s Kingsholm Stadium to face the Red Roses on Saturday 7th September (KO 2.30pm), before a head-to-head between world number one England and World Champions New Zealand takes place at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham on Saturday 14th September (KO 2.30pm).
Roses’ Captain, Marlie Packer, said: “We want to put a brand of rugby out there which is exciting and we’ve got a good run of games now where we can attack it.
“France are always tough opponents and to have the opportunity to play New Zealand at Allianz Stadium is a challenge we are all looking forward to.”
Mitchell’s side ended a successful 2023/24 campaign by earning a third consecutive Guinness Women’s Six Nations Grand Slam in April, adding to the inaugural WXV 1 title secured in New Zealand six months earlier.
After the clash with New Zealand the squad then head out to Canada for WXV 1 where they will face the hosts, USA and the Black Ferns once again.
Mitchell said: “Our first camp of 2024/25 allows us to reset what we stand for and how we will carry ourselves as Red Roses moving forward.
“Our game is working, and we have an opportunity to dial it up again.”
England will be hosting the Women’s World Cup event next year.
Tickets for both matches remain on sale at EnglandRugby.com/tickets, priced from £25 for adults, and £5 for juniors.
