ANOTHER SEAL SPOTTED AT TEDDINGTON LOCK
A seal was spotted clambering on to a pontoon near Teddington and shuffling along before vanishing back into the water.
Eye-witness Dannie Griffiths, from Kingston, captured the video describing the seal as a ‘big fat one’ looking for fish.
He told Teddington Town: “I was fishing at the time and wondering why the fish kept leaping out of the water. I soon got my answer.”
The latest sighting happened near the site of the current work being carried out to refurbish the lock gates.
The increasing number of seal sightings in the River Thames near Teddington has prompted the local Council to place a helpful explanatory sign and guide near the footbridge urging people to ‘Give Seals Space and Please do not disturb.’
The new sign says NEVER:
- Get close to seals
- Fly drones near seals
- Feed wild seals
- Scare seals or put pups into the sea
- Take a seal selfie
And always keep dogs under control on leads.
