PARKRUN ISSUES 20TH ANNIVERSARY APPEAL FOR BUSHY PARK
The famous parkrun, which was started in Bushy Park celebrates its 20th anniversary on Saturday, October 5th when thousands of fun runners are expected to mark the historic milestone.
The Bushy parkrun had its 1000th run on August 31st when over SIX THOUSAND runners from all over the UK and even abroad joined the celebrations of the 9am – 5k Saturday morning run.
But organisers are urging runners to stick to their local and regular parkruns for the anniversary day to help protect the wildlife in Bushy Park as well as maintain a good relationship the park owners, The Royal Parks.
An official said: “We love visitors at Bushy parkrun, but don’t feel you have to visit on the 20th birthday. As our founder said recently:
‘On the 5th October every parkrun throughout the world is asked to celebrate our 20th birthday.
‘It’s definitely not about Bushy parkrun. The special thing about parkrun’s DNA is that your home event is the most special place where the real action takes place. Free, forever, community.”
