TEDDINGTON RNLI NEEDS VOLUNTEERS

Teddington RNLI is shouting out for new volunteers to fill a wide range of roles ranging from frontline lifeboat crew to fundraisers.
Being a RNLI volunteer means being part of a crew, a crew that is supportive, knowledgeable, engaged and friendly.
The Teddington crew is special because it supports one of the country’s busiest lifeboat stations and has some members who have been with the station since it opened in 2002.
Charlie, a Teddington resident recently joined as lifeboat crew because, “Growing up, sailing was a big part of my life, thanks to my late dad.
“He taught me everything about sailing dinghies and yachts, and those memories really shaped my love for the water and the respect I have for it.
‘Living next to the river, I appreciate how crucial the RNLI is for those on and round the water.
“Volunteering with the RNLI Teddington felt like a meaningful way to honour my dad’s memory and give back to the community.”
A recent recruit to the fundraising team joined, “because I live near the Teddington RNLI Lifeboat station and often see the crew going out on a shout.
“I found it hard to believe that the RNLI was run totally by volunteers so decided to find out what I could do to help off the water.”
The roles being sought are lifeboat crew, event organiser, fundraising co- ordinator, fundraising volunteer, water safety advisor, shore launch and a launch authority.
