Big News for Teddington: Exciting Progress on the Friends’ support for £2.2m New Pain Clinic

We have fantastic news about the £2.2m Pain Clinic coming to Teddington Memorial Hospital. At the League of Friends’ recent AGM, project lead Angela Clarke gave us an exciting update on what’s happening behind the scenes to bring this vital facility to life. Here’s what you need to know:

Why Is the Pain Clinic Happening?

The new Pain Clinic, known as the Teddington Health & Social Care Outpatient Facility Development, aims to bring vital community services closer to home and away from busy hospital settings—something that’s become even more critical post-COVID. The project uses space that wasn’t fully utilised before, so it’s a cost-effective and sensible move for our local area.

Overcoming Challenges Together

As with any big project, there have been a few bumps in the road. From upgraded air-handling requirements to coordinating utilities, there have been some hurdles. The League of Friends are providing noise-cancelling headphones for dementia patients to help with the disruptions during construction.

Bringing a Special Touch to Teddington

The League of Friends is contributing over £150,000 to give the clinic a real boost. This means we’re going above standard NHS designs to make the space feel welcoming and comfortable. Think dementia-friendly flooring, cosy furniture, bright colours, and even artwork from local children—making the space truly a community one.

We’re also contributing to sprucing up the hospital gardens to make them more accessible. Expect raised beds, wheelchair-friendly paths, a sensory garden, and better seating areas for everyone to enjoy.

Mark Your Calendars

If all goes to plan, the clinic will be up and running in April 2025. We’re so proud to be part of this project, which will make a real difference for local patients, their families, and staff.
