RUGBY STARS TURN OUT FOR SPORTEDD FUNDRAISER


Former England rugby stars and top referee on great form for SporTedd fundraising dinner at The Wharf restaurant in Teddington.
Joe Worsley, the ex-Wasps player and 2003 World Cup rugby winner was joined by another England hero and Harlequins player Peter Winterbottom, former Gloucester and England player Mark Atkinson and Premiership referee Tom Foley.
As well as entertaining the SporTedd audience with hilarious stories from their respective careers, they gave their personal assessments of England’s chances in their upcoming four Autumn Internationals against the All Blacks, Australia, South Africa and Japan.
The traditional raffle, which raised nearly £1000 included tickets donated by Harlequins for their big Xmas game, tickets for England versus Japan from the RFU, tickets for Wales v Fiji donated by Tickets for Troops and tickets for Arsenal v AS Monaco donated by UEFA.
The new local Teddington restaurant Cento Uno contributed a £100 meal voucher and Peter Winterbottom gave two £50 vouchers for his wife Emily’s Indian cuisine business.
SporTedd Chair Trevor Alldridge told the audience that the community group had donated over £100.000 to more than 80 local sport-themed projects since launch.
He thanked all SporTedd members and guests as well as all the special guests which have included Damon Hill, Gary Lineker, Andrew Strauss, Tim Henman, Judy Murray, Lawrence Dallaglio, Wayne Barnes, Jason Leonard, Sue Barker, Ugo Monye, Ben Ryan who have given their time free of charge.
There was also a big thank you for the many donors who have contributed tickets and other prizes for the raffle which has helped to reach the £100.000 landmark and the staff at the Wharf which has hosted most of SporTedd’s events.
