OPENING OF TEDDINGTON RAILWAY STATION LIFTS DELAYED

Opening of new lifts At Teddington Station to help elderly passengers and those with buggies and luggage are delayed
Last minute hitch in ‘functionality’ delays the opening of the lifts in Station Road and Victoria Road

The opening of the new lifts at Teddington railway station, which was due to happen last month, has been delayed until December, Teddington Town has learned.

The lifts will offer much easier accessibility for elderly passengers and those with prams, buggies and heavy luggage who face a long walk to get to the opposite platform of the station.

A spokesperson for Network Rail said: “The lifts will now be entering into service in December.

“During the functionality testing of the lifts, our engineers encountered problems which has delayed their opening to the public.

“Public safety is our number one priority and we are committed to bringing the lifts at Teddington into beneficial use as soon as reasonably practicable.”

Work started in August 2023 and was due to end last month
