URGENT FUNDING APPEAL FROM THE LANDMARK

The pulpit at the Landmark needs to moved

The Landmark Arts Centre in Teddington has issued an urgent funding appeal to raise £26.000 to help offer a wider range of events such as dance and circus.

Their appeal says from the Landmark Director Harper says:

URGENT APPEAL

Dear Friend,

“Thank you for being such a vital part of the Landmark family. Every time I see people enjoying our space, whether it’s families at workshops or friends attending a performance, I’m reminded of what a unique and welcoming place we have built together at the heart of our community.

“I am reaching out with an update on some exciting developments due over the next six months.

“Over the past two years, we have raised £145,000 of funding from grants to install retractable seating and new wood-effect flooring to the Landmark.

“The retractable seating will further improve the acoustics, creating a more comfortable and flexible space – perfect for sold-out exhibitions or more intimate gigs.

“However, one key obstacle remains: our beloved pulpit.

“While it’s a wonderful historic feature of the building, it currently obstructs the sightlines for those seated in the new raked seating area.

“We have received Listed Building Consent to move the pulpit to the side of the stage, but the costs of this essential conservation work have risen significantly, leaving us with a shortfall of £26,000.

“This new flooring will bring us closer to installing under floor heating and will improve access while allowing us to host a wider range of events and activities, including dance and circus.

“We are so close to covering the pulpit relocation costs, your donation could be the vital one that makes it possible.

“Please help us to create a more welcoming, flexible space, whilst cherishing all that makes the Landmark special!”
