WORK OUT AT THE NEW LOCAL MATHNASIUM!

A new maths learning centre called the Mathnasium is opening in Hampton Hill High Street

LOCAL pupils looking to improve their maths grades will be given a new opportunity with the opening of the new ‘Mathnasium’ maths tuition centre on Hampton Hill High Street, it was announced today.

As part of the world-wide Mathnasium chain, the innovative new centre will offer high-quality maths tuition, individually tailored to each child.

As children are able to attend up to three times each week, the programme is much more affordable than the typical £60 hourly charge for a private tutor.

Used by more than a million children worldwide since its development, the unique teaching system sees 94 per cent of parents report their child’s maths skills and understanding have improved while nine in ten children achieve higher grades.

The centre has been launched by local couple Sharon Kaur and Gurmeet Singh.

They explained: “We chose to open Mathnasium as we know how well it works. Unlike conventional tutoring, it makes maths fun, accessible and understandable.

“Our son studied with Mathnasium and his results leapt three grades in under a year, so we wanted to offer these same opportunities to other local children.”

The centre will offer after-school classes from 3.30pm to 7.30pm  on Mondays to Thursdays plus 10.30am to 2pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

Tutors at the centre include a Yale-educated maths expert who is also a lecturer at Kings College University and a maths and economics specialist. All teaching staff have at least a 9 in maths / further maths GCSE and A-level.

Currently over 80 per cent of children in the borough obtain grades 9-4 at maths GCSE which is above the national average, however the area is home to some of the UK’s most popular selective schools including Tiffin boys and girls grammars, St Paul’s, Hampton Boys School and Lady Eleanor Holles, all of which require high grades for pupils to pass their entrance exams.

Sharon Kaur added: “Mathnasium can help with GCSEs and entrance exams but we do much more than this. Perhaps your child is nervous about maths or is worried they don’t understand it?

“Maybe you are struggling as a parent to help with homework and you’d like them to be in an environment where they can learn more? Whatever your issue, you can count on the right help at Mathnasium Teddington & Hampton Hill.”

The Mathnasium system was launched in Los Angeles in late 2002,  by a trio of educators focused on delivering the world’s best maths instruction. It has grown to become the globe’s most popular maths tuition system but has only recently been introduced to the UK.

The new centre will open at 187 Hampton Hill High Street, TW12 1NL on Saturday 23 November.
