TEDDINGTON LIFEBOAT TO STAR AT LIGHTS UP
The Teddington Lifeboat Alderman Penny Shelton and the local volunteer crew will be ‘sailing’ into the Teddington Lights Up celebrations next Thursday evening.
The distinctive bright orange Class D lifeboat and little blue tractor will be parked alongside the Kings Head, as well as a lifeboat-themed stall brimming with RNLI Christmas cards and stocking fillers.
Kids will be welcome to climb aboard, try out a helmet, explore the boat and the tractor and get a taste of the charity’s lifesaving work on the river.
Stormy Stan will be on hand for selfies and a friendly wave.
Normally based opposite The Wharf restaurant on Manor Road, volunteer crew members dressed their special kit will be on hand to answer any questions from 5pm until 7.30pm.
Matt Allchurch, Teddington RNLI lifeboat manager, says: “Our lifeboat is a firm favourite at Teddington Lights Up.
“It is one of the most important fundraising events for our local lifeboat station each Christmas. Come and say hello – the crew (and Stormy Stan) would love to meet you, family and friends.”
*Teddington’s two D class lifeboats were called out to help reach a casualty in the water near Islelworth Ait where the water was too shallow to allow the local Chiswick lifeboat to operate safely.
