The Teddington Lights Up! event brought thousands of people including lots of families out on to the streets tonight to join the early fun and festivities of Christmas.

High Street, Broad Street and Church Street were all sealed off as crowds sampled food and drinks and late-night shopping.

Choirs from the Landmark Arts Centre sang Christmas carols under the Xmas tree at the junction of Church Street and Broad Street and children from Sacred Heart School sang outside Shambles Wine bar.

There was an outside bar serving drinks in the car park of the King’s Head pub and live music later in the evening. Earlier Santa welcomed visitors to his Grotto of the car park.

Teddington Rugby club provided balloons and Cento Uno had a mobile unit serving drinks and food.

The RNLI’s lifeboat was a massive hit at the bottom of Cambridge Road with kids climbing aboard and learning about their vital work on the river near Teddington.

The massive event was organised by Teddington Together and partly sponsored by the Teddington Lottery which helps raises funds for local causes. (www.teddingtonlottery.co.uk)
