RICHMOND REPEAT SHOPLIFTERS NICKED
Two of Richmond’s most prolific shoplifters have now been banned from the borough following extensive work by local officers.
They have been served with post-conviction Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBO’s) with specific conditions attached, that include banning them from entering or being found in the Borough of Richmond.
Ali Naddi aged 29, was charged with 32 offences of shoplifting. On the 19th November he was convicted and sentenced to 12 weeks in prison. The CBO is in force for 7 years.
Darren Stevenson, aged 47, was charged with 29 offences of shoplifting. On the 2nd December he was convicted for all of them and sentenced to 26 weeks in prison. The CBO is in force for 5 years.
Any breaches of these orders means that they can be arrested, charged and presented to the courts.
A police spokesperson said: “By adopting this proactive approach to persistent offenders we will ensure Richmond remains a safe Borough for all those who work, visit or reside here.”
Teddington Town has requested more details about the specific offences as retailers in the Teddington area have become increasingly concerned about the increasing incidents of shoplifting.
