SHAMBLES WINE BAR STARS ON LOCAL BBC TV NEWS

Massimo interviewed for BBC News
Massimo, Margherita and local MP Munira Wilson

Shambles restaurant and wine bar and owner Massimo made an appearance on the BBC TV local London news tonight in recognition of their business success over the last 40 years.

Massimo Langella, who runs the restaurant with his sister Margherita, was highlighted by Small Business Saturday – an event for inspiring UK entrepreneurs. The campaign celebrates small business and encourages people to ‘shop local’ and supports businesses in the community.

Massimo said: “It’s an understatement to say we’re thrilled to be included in this year’s SmallBiz100. “As a second-generation family-run business, we have seen the amazing impact community
has on our local high street, and our restaurant and winebar has a lot of thanks to give to all our amazing guests over the years.

“The additional continued support received leading up to Christmas from the Small Business Saturday UK campaign is a fantastic reminder to everyone to shop small!

“Being selected in such a widely known and positive national initiative that celebrates all the UK’s diverse small businesses is an absolute honour for Shambles and our team. It has
been this year’s icing on the cake, by a country mile!”

This weekend Shambles will be marking the campaign by offering 41% off any sparking wine in conjunction with their 41st Birthday.

Local MP Munira Wilson was also interviewed for the evening news bulletin where she stressed the importance of supporting local businesses.

Michelle Ovens CBE, Director of Small Business Saturday UK, said: “Small businesses like Shambles restaurant and wine bar deliver incredible value across their local community and the
wider economy, so it is wonderful to have celebrated their contribution at the House of Lords.

“Public support is absolutely vital for small businesses across the UK, so we urge everyone up and down the country to get behind them on Small Business Saturday and beyond.”

A grassroots, not-for-profit campaign, Small Business Saturday was originally founded by American Express in the U.S. in 2010.

American Express remains the principal supporter of the campaign in the UK, as part of its ongoing support of the UK high street and commitment to encouraging consumers to shop small.

On Small Business Saturday, customers across the UK go out and support all types of small businesses, online, in offices and in stores; from independent shops and restaurants to small
service and b2b businesses like accountants and plumbers.
