MET RESPONSE TO FEARS OF ROYAL PARKS POLICE THREAT
The Metropolitan Police has responded for the first time to fears and speculation that the Royal Parks police in Bushy and Richmond Parks may be disbanded as part of cutbacks.
The Liberal Democrat’s led by local MP Sarah Olney and the leader of Richmond Council Cllr. Gareth Roberts, have launched a petition against the proposals.
In a statement to Teddington Town, the police stated: “We have been clear on the financial challenges we face and continue to have productive discussions with The Mayor and Home Office to ensure we have the resources to police London effectively.
“As expected we are carefully planning for any tough choices we may have to make to ensure we live within the means of our future budget, but no final decisions have been made.”
