Back in safe hands after suspected dog attack in Bushy Park

The cygnet badly injured in a suspected dog attack in Bushy Park underwent emergency surgery at The Swan Sanctuary in Shepperton today to repair a severe tear across its stomach.

Vets worked on the deep wound and stitched up the area earlier today and Sanctuary staff reported that he was ‘settling down well.”

The cygnet was spotted motionless in the Park yesterday by a visitor who reported the incident to the Swan Sanctuary because she suspected the cygnet had been the victim of a dog attack.

The Sanctuary reminded dog owners to keep their animals on leads near the ponds or exercise the away from the wildlife.

His recovery will be monitored before he is returned to Bushy Park.
