One of the must popular characters in the TV series Ted Lasso is to appear in the next series of Slow Horses, also shown on Apple TV prompting renewed speculation about whether a Season Four of  Jason Sudeikis’s award-winning series, filmed mostly in Richmond, is really in the pipeline.

Nick Mohammed, who played football coach Nathan Shelly and lives near Richmond, was one of the central characters in Ted Lasso, and would have been highly likely to feature in any new series, which had been rumoured to begin filming in Richmond and the surrounding area early this year.

Speaking in a Radio Times magazine interview, Nick, 44 said he was aware of “rumblings” of a fourth season, admitting that “all of us have been chatting”.

And he added: “I think it all depends on what Jason Sudeikis wants to do. Everyone has said if there’s an idea that feels good, we would be all up for it. I would personally go back in a heartbeat!”

The fresh debate was sparked by photos of the filming of new episodes of Slow Horses in the Bloomsbury area of London where a double decker bus was seen carrying a banner with a picture of Nick Mohammed as politician Zafar Jaffrey saying Moving London Forward – Vote Jaffrey.

Reports from America have suggested stars of the show such as British actors Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein and Jeremy Swift have had their options taken up by the show makers Warner Bros pointing strongly to the possibility of a new series, which has become a global phenomenon.

Significantly, actor and creator Jason Sudeikis and his friend and co-writer Brendan Hunt, who played Coach Beard, have made no official comment about a new since since the speculation in Hollywood began.

Independent inquiries by Teddington Town with the local TV studios, the west London football club where scenes were filmed and Richmond Council have failed to provide any evidence of a new series as yet.
