THE TEDDINGTON BUTCHER IS NOW UP FOR SALE

Hopes of a new community butchers replacing The Teddington Butcher in Waldegrave Road virtually disappeared today when a For Sale sign appeared outside the premises for the first time.
The freehold of the shop and the two-bedroomed flat above with a separate entrance is on the market with the commercial department of local estate agent, Milestone, with an asking price of £685.000.
All fixtures and fittings in the shop including a full-size walk-in fridge, walk-in freezer, various butcher’s blocks and machinery and refrigeration and chiller-display counters are available following the decision by the former owners, Steve and Penny to retire just before Xmas.
They posted an emotional letter of thanks to their loyal customers on the door, which is still there today, but after 18 years running the business and increasing competition from supermarkets, a shortage of qualified butchers and parking issues they decided to shut down.
The description of the property says “the shop serves a highly affluent and family-oriented neighbourhood. Buses pass outside and by car the A316 is within a short drive which in turn provides swift access to Richmond town centre, the M3, the M25 and Heathrow.
“Located in a well-supported small parade of independent retailers a short stroll from the ever-popular High Street. The shop has been fully extended and includes a large rear preparation and stores, office and WC.”
Milestone estimate an annual rental value of £18.000
