REVISED PLANS FOR OLD HSBC BUILDING IN TEDDINGTON HIGH STREET

The former HSBC bank High Street, Teddington has been a long standing eyesore

These are the revised architect’s plans for the proposed and long-awaited development on the site of the former HSBC bank in Teddington High Street on the corner of Cedar Road.

These plans were submitted in December and are still awaiting approval from Richmond Council, Teddington Town understands.

The Teddington Society says in its newsletter: “There have been some new drawings issued for
the HSBC site, reducing the visibility of the top floor in the High Street and altering the roof of the building in Cedar Road.”

The revised drawings from Chandler Brown architects – originals were submitted in June – can be seen on Richmond Council’s planning site.

The proposed four story development will consist of eight residential properties and two retail units, probably including a restaurant facing the High Street next to the Teddington Arms pub as well as a basement.

The planning application from Leamington Spa based Unico Developments requires the full demolition of the existing site and the building of three storeys with a basement with a maximum height of 9 metres.

If the application is given the green light the work is not expected to finish until the end of December 2026.

The existing plan is for six one bedroomed flats and one two bedroomed and one three bedroomed flat and the total building costs are estimated at about £2.75m.

The developers submitted amended proposals in December following the refusal of permission by the Council previously and various concerns raised by the council about visibility and height.
