WAFFLE THE WONDER DOG IS MAKING A COMEBACK – FILMING IN TEDDINGTON

The Borough of Richmond has become a popular location for big series like Apple TV’s Ted Lasso and more recently Black Doves on Netflix.
But the latest TV blockbuster to be filming in Teddington is Waffle The Wonder Dog – the hit CBeebies series for kids aged between 4 and 7, which is making a comeback after five years.
The series has become a massive hit on BBC iplayer after kids rediscovered and fell back in love with Waffle, the talking dog, during COVID when they were staying home and watching more TV than usual.
Location trucks and filming facilities by Up and Running set up their base in the car park outside the Normansfield Theatre on the Langdon Park estate on Kingston Road.
The filming was taking place inside.
The series is made for the BBC by Richmond-based production company Darrall Macqueen which also made Teletubbies at Riverside Studios in Twickenham and another popular kids series Topsy and Tim.
Teddington Town understands that local school children will ‘star’ in the new series alongside the TV superstar dog but no transmission date has been fixed for the limited-run series.
The programme was first broadcast from 26 February 2018.
Waffle is a talking dog – a red miniature poodle, who is adopted by the Brooklyn-Bell after they find him in their new house. Waffle always causes trouble, especially with neighbour Mrs Hobbs, who has a cat called George.
In 2018, Waffle the Wonder Dog was a nominee in the Children’s Pre-School Live Action category at the Children’s BAFTA Awards.
