Hampton Wick Royal Cricket Club is hosting a special fundraising lunch to support the rebuilding of a new pavilion following the fire which totally destroyed the previous building in September 2023.

The £100 a head City Lunch takes place on Thursday, March 6 at Smith & Wollensky in Covent Garden with a special guest appearance by former England cricket captain Michael Vaughan and celebrity auctioneer, Jonny Gould.

The big lunch, which is hoped to raise at least £10.000, is the first fundraising event of the year but will be followed by others locally. Auction prizes include a ski chalet holiday, hospitality packages at Arsenal and Anfield, tickets to international cricket matches and fantastic golf experiences.

The club is still awaiting formal permission from The Royal Parks and Richmond Council to go ahead with the building scheme.

Club President Graham Smith reckons the insurance will pay out about £1.4m but the building project will require at least another £500.000 to meet the demands of the growing club and its increasing number of teams of all age groups.

He expects various grants from groups like the National Lottery leaving the club to raise a hefty £300.000.

It is envisaged that significant donations will be raised through a ‘Wonderwall at The Wick’ whereby supporters can donate a sum of money and a brick or bricks in the new building will carry their name.

A few tickets for the lunch are still available. If anyone is interested, please contact events@greyunicorn.com
