The latest convoy of five ambulances were being checked over today before setting off to Ukraine with vital medical supplies from Cambridge Road, Teddington.

The TWELFTH convoy will be led by the co-founder of Mighty Convoy, Gavin Emsden from Hampton as well as two other local drivers, Tim Rust and David Crowther.

Another volunteer driver, who has helped raise the £35.000 to buy the fleet of second hand ambulances, Colin Greene from Oxshott, said: “I am delighted to be involved in this remarkable project.

Colin said: “It is important to support the underdog in this conflict as Ukraine continues to fight valiantly and I just want to contribute something to help at this pivotal time of the war.”

His daughter Amelia joined Chris and Sven – who have both driven in the convoy previously – in making last-minute mechanical checks on the vehicles parked in the driveway of Mighty Convoy’s co found Simon Brake in Cambridge Road, Teddington.

The humanitarian aid, which includes hospital beds, tourniquets and surgical gowns, will be delivered to Lviv and distributed to the frontline to help injured soldiers and civilians.

Since its launch Mighty Convoy has delivered 44 ambulances, 4X4s and pick-up trucks to Ukraine as part of eleven convoys.  It has raised over £300,000 from generous donors and delivered more than 30 tonnes of humanitarian aid on the ground in Ukraine.
