TEDDINGTON’S HISTORY IN POSTCARDS

Collectors sifted through the boxes of postcards and coins at the Baptist Church in Church Road, Teddington
The West London Postcard Fair attracted hundreds of visitors

 

The West London Postcard Fair was abuzz with collectors and curious visitors today the Baptist Church in Church Road, Teddington.

Endless rows of cardboard boxes contained carefully filed and labelled postcards from all over the country and potential buyers made themselves comfortable as they sifted through the plastic-protected cards looking for a rare gem.

The mostly black and white cards show bygone images of Broad Street, Church Road, Teddington Lock with fishermen and passers by in fashion of the time as well as vintage cars on Chestnut Avenue in Bushy Park.

These were a few of the historical images of Teddington available at Alan Winter’s stall:

Teddington Lock
Broad Street with tram
Well-dressed women of the day take in the view of the bridge at Teddington Lock
Chestnut Avenue, well before through traffic was banned
Historic view of Diana Fountain, which has stood since 1713 with vintage car travelling through the park
