A RARE SIGHT OF A ONE-ANTLER DEER IN BUSHY PARK

Photos by Sue Lindenberg

A ‘unicorn’ is a rare sight in Bushy Park even if it is April Fool’s Day.

But this single-antlered deer caught photographer Sue Lindenberg off guard early today.

She posted her unusual images on X and wrote: “The Bushy Park Unicorn? 🤔A Fallow Buck with recently shed antler.

”He seemed unperturbed despite possibly feeling slightly off balance.”

Typically, most deer ‘shed’ their antlers in late winter or early spring and in most cases they do drop simultaneously but there can sometimes be days or weeks before both antlers are shed.

It’s a painless process and a new set of antlers grow every year.
