SHAMBLES OWNERS HONOURED AT NUMBER 11 DOWNING STREET

An award-winning local Teddington business was invited to 11 Downing Street for a special reception hosted by Chancellor Rachel Reeves.

Margarita Langella, co-owner of Shanbles restaurant and wine bar in High Street, Teddington attended as part of the recognition of the contribution to the UK’s 5-45 million small business to the country’s economy, society and communities.

Margherita attended the special event which brought together recent winners and finalists of The Small Awards, organised by Small Business Britain and celebrates the country’s ’smallest and greatest’ of businesses.

Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves said: “It’s fantastic to celebrate the success of some of the UK’s brightest and best small businesses who play a vital roke in driving growth supporting jobs and keeping our high streets and communities thriving.

“We’re backing our small businesses by tackling issues like late payments and announcing £6.6bn of new capital for the British Business Bank to help SME’s expand and create new jobs and boost their competitiveness internationally.”

The event featured a collection of over 40 small businesses, from micro-businesses and family businesses to start ups and high street heroes.

Margarita and her brother Massimo are familiar and popular figures in the Teddington business community also won the Legacy Award for Best Family Business.

Massimo said: We’re thrilled that Shambles was invited to a special reception at Downing Street to celebrate this year’s ‘Legacy award’ win for Best Family Business, UK at The Small Awards – for recognition of enduring success, shared vision, and generational dedication of family-run businesses.

“We’re incredibly proud to represent our community and the hospitality industry at such an iconic place. A huge thank you to our amazing team and loyal guests, we couldn’t have done it without you!
