TEDDINGTON’S LION PUB – THE MUSICAL!

The Lion pub in Teddington is set to break new ground by staging a musical about…a community pub, it has been revealed today.
For two nights only – 13 and 14 May – The Lion will host a script-in-hand, sing and read-through performance of a musical comedy called Game On packed full with original uplifting rock and pop songs, drag acts, darts matches, and deception within a new visually immersive, vibrant musical experience.
Martin Thomas, one of the community owners of The Lion told Teddington Town: “In our recent reopening we have restored more than just a pub — it’s brought back a true community space.
“Hosting this new musical comedy here feels like a natural extension of our revival.
“When we heard about this production, and realised that we could help in its development, serendipity had arrived in hob nailed boots and kicked the door in.
”The story of saving a much-loved local resonated strongly, making the pub not just a venue, but part of the narrative itself.
”With flexible spaces that allow audiences to dine, drink and experience live performance up close, The Lion offers a setting that traditional theatres simply can’t replicate — informal, immersive, and rooted in the community that inspired the piece.”
Joanne Zorian, a West End actress and writer of Game On, said: “When developing a new show or play it’s incredibly encouraging to have the support from the community and that’s what The Lion pub in Teddington has given us.
“We are proud to be a part of a great community pub and present the first public presentation of our show. which features the playing of Darts, drag Diamanté and Deception!
“The composer and musical director was also once a local lad!”
The story of Game On is about pub landlady Sheila who faces double-dealing, double mascara and darts double tops to save her home.
Everyone has an agenda AND no-one is who they seem to be! If a game of darts is the answer… what was the question?
A resilient and spirited landlady of a local community pub fights to keep her livelihood and her home with lively and surprising entertainment as the storms of bereavement, traditional bias and back-stabbing try to knock her off course.
Everyone thinks they can help …. or help themselves.
Original uplifting rock and pop songs, DRAG ACTS, DARTS MATCHES and DECEPTION all play out in a new visually immersive, vibrant, multi-media musical experience appealing to a wide audience base.
